Heather Thomson is an educator and program manager with more than 15 years of experience in education, international exchange, and community engagement. As Program Manager for AFC+A’s Community Tree Planting Initiative, she led efforts to plant 1,000 trees in neighborhoods affected by urban heat and limited tree canopy. Her responsibilities included project management, community outreach, volunteer coordination, partnership development, and supervision of staff.

Heather previously served as a Program Specialist with the Peace Corps, where she managed a national intercultural education program to expand global learning opportunities for students and educators across the United States. Her background also includes service as an AmeriCorps VISTA supporting health and wellness initiatives with communities in Denver, a Peace Corps Response Volunteer in Mexico, and a U.S. Department of State English Language Specialist in Morocco. Earlier in her career, she taught Spanish at the high school and university levels.

She holds a Master’s degree in Education from Michigan State University and is passionate about environmental stewardship, sustainability, and expanding access to educational opportunities.
