An important part of AFC+A’s origin story, ALEF is the nation’s premier event for diverse professionals working at the intersection of cultural and environmental justice. The event invites artists, scientists, advocates, public policy leaders, and communties from across the Americas to congregate in the interest of exchanging ideas, sparking important dialogue, and incubating new collaborations.
ALEF’s mission is to elevate the voices of communities of color and women in conservation by fostering intersectional collaboration to better tackle environmental justice challenges. We leverage art and culture to advance shared values and promote inclusivity. Our goals include:

The program -free of cost- will culminate in the summer of 2025 in our signature 5 days Promotores Verdes Youth Congress- at Rocky Ridge Music Center in Rocky Mountain National Park. Students will come together for a week long day retreat where they will experience an innovative curriculum joining studies on the benefits of human-nature connections, environmental stewardship, climate literacy and the development of creative skills in verbal, visual, and sound arts and their application to social justice. Promotores Verdes is for students ages 13-18. We encourage nominating students who have a passion for natural sciences, arts, and the outdoors and who are interested in building their leadership skills.
